Just wanted to make everyone aware of a book that's coming out in February (8th I believe) that's about the 1979 Nascar Season, which in many ways was one of the most important Nascar seasons ever. The name of the book is "He Crashed Me So I Crashed Him Back," and was written by Sports Illustrated Senior Editor Mark Bechtel.

Question on MPD

Since Bill is actually retired, why has the MPD not been named after him? Several years ago NASCAR said that after Bill retired the MPD would be named the Bill Elliott MPD in his honor.

Maybe this question has been asked lately, but I haven't seen anything about it. Does anyone know, or does Bill have to be completely gone from NASCAR for this to happen?

That this David Hyder situation is going to get very messy before it's all said and done. It all sounds like an instance of he said she said. Honestly, I don't think BAM has any right to say Hyder, or anyone else on the No.21 team belongs back to them. Listen. Yes, orignally the members of BAM were on loan to the Woods. AND - Crew Chief: Morgenthau said David Hyder would be returning to the team as crew chief; Hyder has been working with the Woods and Bill Elliott this season. The driver has yet to be announced. The engines will likely be provided either by Joey Arrington or Toyota's High Point race engine department. Morgenthau said the team would run the full 36-race tour.(

Imagine you all noticed that Chase set the lap record and got the pole at the World Crown race. Guess maybe his Daddy has given him some pointers on laying down a fast lap,or maybe it's in the genes. I was really happy with the way Bill drove yesterday. He got the most out of that 21 car.
